Hummanaya Blow Hole

Hummanaya Blowhole is the second largest blowhole in the world which is the small fishing village of Kudawella. Local handicraft makers are selling their goods at the nearby stalls. This blowhole has achieved fame amongst visitors to the island, as it is believed to the second largest blowhole around the world.  The place gets in name from the Sinhala terms “Hoo+manaya”. “Hoo” was once a traditional method of measuring distance in rural areas but it is also onomatopoeic, and denotes the gush of water in between the rocks.
